Vietjet Air reports profits of nearly VND2.4 trillion in 2016

NDO - Low-cost carrier Vietjet Air generated earnings of VND2.394 trillion (US$105 million) in 2016 on revenues of VND27.532 trillion (US$1.2 billion), the company has reported.
Last year the airline carried over 14 million passengers with a capacity utilisation ratio of 88.9% as the company continued to tap into Vietnam’s increasing demand for air travel.
Vietjet also registered a high performance in terms of safety and reliability compared with other carriers in the Asia Pacific region.
Its technical reliability stood at 99.56%, among the highest rates recorded by an operator of the Airbus A320/A321 models in the region while its on-time performance for 2016 was 83.6% of the total 84,535 flights.
In 2016 the company, in addition to increasing the frequency of domestic flights, constantly expanded its international flight network.
Vietjet is currently operating 63 routes, including 37 domestic and 26 international routes between Vietnam and regional countries such as Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, China and Myanmar, with a fleet of 45 modern aircraft aged 3.3 years on average.
