NDO –A project on preserving the rare H’Mong chicken breed conducted by a group of students from the Vietnam National University of Agriculture has won first prize at the 2017 National Startup Competition.

The H’Mong chicken breeding project, along with other five projects were honoured at the 2018 Startup Festival jointly held by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and Vietnam Business Forum magazine in Hanoi, on January 12.

According to journalist Nguyen Tien Dung, editor in chief of the Vietnam Business Forum magazine, the 2017 National Startup Competition received 300 projects from startups across the country and the six best projects were selected to participate in the funding round.

The project to preserve the rare H’Mong chicken breed originated in Yen Bai province and create jobs for the local ethnic minority people attracted great attention from investors and received funding and consultancy from the PTI education company, Thai Binh Seed SJC, Agency Coaching and Techfarm JSC.

The startup festival aimed to boost entrepreneurship among Vietnamese students and youngsters, while creating a network of startup communities throughout the country.
