Eight exports each exceed US$1 billion in two-month revenue

NDO – Eight Vietnamese exports saw their revenues surpass US$1 billion in the first two months of 2018, three more than January 2018, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

Vietnam earned more than US$33.6 billion in export revenue for the first two months of the year, an increase of 22.9% year-on-year.

Export revenues in the domestic economic sector rose 25%, to reach US$9.6 billion, while in the foreign direct investment (FDI) sector they expanded 21.8% to US$23.9 billion.

Phones and spare parts took the lead among the main items driving growth in export revenues for the period, reaching US$6.63 billion, up 41.7% compared to the same period last year.

It was followed by garment-textiles with an estimated export revenue of US$4.29, up 23%, and electronic products and computers (nearly US$3.97 billion, up 19.2%).

In the first two months, footwear earned more than US$2.3 billion in export revenue, a year-on-year increase of 11.9%, while machines, equipment, and tools increased beyond US$2.12 billion.

Vietnam also exported wood and timber products worth U$1.3 billion from January to February, a year-on-year rise of 20.1%.
