Hanoi welcomes more than 8 million tourists
Nhan Dan - Hanoi has received over 8.3 million arrivals in the first six months of 2012, the highest numbers of visitors to a city in Vietnam, according to the Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Of the total number of visits, 7.3 million were domestic tourists and 1 million were tourists from abroad, a year-on-year increase of 24% and 20% respectively.
The city hopes to receive 2.5 million international tourists and 14 million Vietnamese tourists by 2015 with a turnover of US$2.1 billion. By 2020, figures are expected to reach 3 million overseas and 18 million domestic tourists bringing in revenue of almost US$ 4 billion.
