Tuyen Quang: Party relic recognised as national historical site

NDO – The Kim Binh historical site in Kim Binh Commune, Chiem Hoa District, the northern province of Tuyen Quang, where the 2nd National Party Congress was held in 1951, received a certificate recognising it a special national relic site at a ceremony on February 2.

With its important strategic position in the Safety Zone during the resistance wars, 66 years ago, Kim Binh commune was selected as the venue for the 2nd National Party Congress in 1951 – the first Party Congress held in Vietnam and is the only hosted outside Hanoi.

At the event, the congress made a range of major decisions, including the road map to a complete victory of the revolution, as well as the election of the Party Central Committee’s members, with Ho Chi Minh as chairman and Truong Chinh as general secretary.

Speaking at the ceremony, which is also to celebrate the 87th anniversary of establishment of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 03, 1930-2017), Politburo member and head of the Party Central Committee’s Organisation Commission Pham Minh Chinh hailed socio-economic achievements Tuyen Quang has made over the past time.

He suggested the province pay attention to promote industrial development, improve the quality and efficiency of agricultural production, and mobilise resources to develop infrastructure and implement important infrastructure projects.

He also urged Tuyen Quang to uphold the value of its local relic sites, making them an effective tool to educate young generations on patriotism.

Chau Van Lam, Secretary of Tuyen Quang’s Party Committee said that with more than 500 historical relics, Tuyen Quang was a revolutionary museum. He affirmed that the province would preserve, conserve, and promote the value such historic sites, including two special national historical monuments Kim Binh and Tan Trao, to turn them into historical tourist attractions.

Also at the ceremony, Pham Minh Huan, Chairman of Tuyen Quang Provincial People’s Committee launched a tree planting festival to celebrate the lunar New Year.

On the occasion, Politburo member Chinh also presented gifts to people who contributed to the revolution and social welfare beneficiaries in Kim Binh Commune.
