NDO – Visitors will have the chance to admire more than 1,400 of the latest fashion designs by 153 designers from Vietnam and Southeast Asian countries, at the Fashionology Festival 2017, which is scheduled to take place at the Nguyen Hue Walking Street in Ho Chi Minh City from October 20-22.

This announcement was released at a press conference, held by the HCM City Department of Tourism and the Golden Communication Group, on October 10.

According to Nguyen Minh Huong, Director General of the Golden Communication Group, the three-day festival will bring together 450 fashion collections made by Vietnam’s famous designers, such as Thuan Viet, Hoang Hai, Ha Nhat Tien and Duc Duy, alongside foreign designers.

More than 250 Vietnamese and international models will perform on the catwalk of 670m-long Nguyen Hue Street, Huong said, adding that exhibition and shopping activities, imbued with fashion and modern technology, are also expected to entertain visitors.

Each day of the festival will be organised around different themes and activities, including “Far East Identity,” “New Waves,” and “Future Stars,” seeking to offer the audience a unique fashion experience by using the latest technologies, such as 5D Mapping (the model introduces many costumes on stage without changing clothes), the application of the Magic Mirror in showcasing products, and fashion designs using virtual reality technology.

In addition, the festival will be a platform for businesses and fashion designers to seek business cooperation opportunities and develop the fashion design industry, Huong noted.

Director of the HCM City Tourism Department, Bui Ta Hoang Vu, said that this will be the first time that a cultural and tourism event, with the inspirational combination of fashion and technology, is held in HCM City, aiming to boost the local tourism industry.

The festival will also offer an occasion to show Vietnamese people’s hospitality and to introduce the quintessence of Vietnam’s vibrant fashion design industry to tourists, he added.

According to the organising committee, the festival is expected to welcome around 100,000 visitors.
