NDO – The ‘Thep noi nguc lua’ (Steel in fire prison) Exhibition opened at Hoa Lo prison, Hanoi on July 4, as part of activities to celebrate the 70th anniversary of War Invalids' and Martyrs' Day (July 27, 1947 – 2017).
The display is divided into four main parts, including ‘The desire for freedom’; ‘Under the glorious banner of the Communist Party of Vietnam’; ‘Standing up for the country’ and ‘Forever 20’.
Historical photographs, documents and artifacts displayed at the exhibition reflect the revolutionary soldiers’ sacrifice and resilient fighting spirit.
The exhibition shows gratitude to revolutionary soldiers who were imprisoned.
The event runs until September 30, 2017.
Hoa Lo prison was built by French colonialists in 1896. Over more than half a century, 200 revolutionary soldiers died and many soldiers suffered from poor health due to torture and long detainment at the prison, part of which is now a historical site open to visitors.
The site receives more than 100,000 visitors each year.
