Cultural, sports and tourism activities nationwide celebrate New Year 2019

NDO – A wide variety of cultural, sports and tourism activities were held nationwide on January 1 to celebrate the New Year 2019.

The V-Concert at the Hanoi Opera House, which was broadcast live on VTC3 Channel, was one of the major events on the first day of the New Year.

The concert was conducted by Japanese conductor Honna Tetsuji and featured the participation of Japanese harp player Aya Matsumoto, along with numerous well-known Vietnamese artists, including Meritorious Artist Dang Duong, singers Dinh Trang and Dao To Loan.

An arts programme, themed ‘And flowers are blooming’, was also held by the Vietnam Television, depicting images of people who are trying to overcome difficulties in their lives and always keeping faith and optimism.

The Ho Chi Minh City Television (HTV) also broadcast a unique arts programme, reviewing the situation in culture and arts as well as programmes on the television’s channels in the past year.

An exchange programme took place in the northern mountainous province of Dien Bien yesterday, featuring songs and dances praising the Party, country and local ethnic minority groups in the province, as well as folk games and boat racing.

Welcoming the New Year 2019, people and visitors to the northern province of Hai Duong enjoyed water puppetry performances by 20 artisans from Thanh Hai troup in Thanh Da district.

The central city of Da Nang shined with a dazzling fireworks show to mark 22 years since the city was under the Central Government and to celebrate the New Year.

Also on the first day of the year 2019, a ceremony was held in Hanoi to welcome and present flowers to Timo Kux from Germany, the first international visitor to the capital city in the New Year.

A similar event took place in Ho Chi Minh City to receive first six international visitors and first six domestic tourists to the City.
