Russian General remembers General Vo Nguyen Giap
Russian Senior Lieutenant General Khiupenhen Anatoli Ivanovich has expressed deep sadness at the news that his friend, General Vo Nguyen Giap, has passed away.
The Russian General described the late general as a point of pride for the Vietnamese nation, his role as President Ho Chi Minh’s right-hand man in building the army.
The victory at Dien Bien Phu can be seen as the Vietnamese equivalent of Russia’s triumph at Stalingrad, he said.
He also recounted a visit to the Vietnam Army Museum during which Russian military experts expressed their admiration for the wisdom of the General, who never received any official military training.
