Book Exhibition “Vietnam Eye: Contemporary Vietnamese Art”

“Vietnam Eye: Contemporary Vietnamese Art” is a publication featuring 56 Vietnamese emerging contemporary artists, 19 out of whom will have artworks presented in the exhibition at Casa Italia, Hanoi.

The book and the exhibition offer an overview of one of the newest and most exciting scenes in the global art world. Vietnam has developed rapidly in the last ten years with a new generation of contemporary artists who balance cultural and social issues with a contemporary outlook.

This is a generation of artists who are aware of both the history of Vietnamese art as well international art world.

Exhibition “Scry” by Phi Phi Oanh

“Scry” features Phi Phi Oanh’s latest series of lacquer paintings on glasses which she has worked and experimented on for years.

Using this visual trope, through lacquer painting, the artist loosely reflects on contemporary imagery—that which new technologies such as drones, digital, satellite, nanotechnology can visualize.

Exhibition “Living Forever with the Capital”

Thang Long Citadel

The exhibition features the documents, artifacts and photographs from the Hanoi Museum and the Thang Long–Hanoi Cultural Heritage Conservation Centre during the French war (1945-1954).

There is also an old books fair with many rare and valuable books about Hanoi.

Concert “Dancing with Classical”

HCMC Opera House

The Ho Chi Minh City Ballet Symphony Orchestra and Opera (HBSO) will end the year of 2016 with a very special programme, bringing the joyful spirit to welcome the new year.

Under the baton of conductor Le Phi Phi, the program will bring to the audience different dance pieces, from Hungary, from the Slavonic, from Russia, the noble waltz, or the upbeat tango, bolero, and mambo.

The concert will be performed by HBSO symphony orchestra with the wonderful music from Tchaikovsky, Georges Bizet, Brahms, Johann Strauss, Jacques Offenbach, Leonard Bernstein, and Leroy Anderson.
