Vietnam Connection Music Festival 2017

Grand Concert Hall, Vietnam National Academy of Music

77 Hao Nam Street, Dong Da District,

This festival sees the participation of many international classical music artists (France, Taiwan, China), such as pianist Louis Haguenauer, violinist Gregory Lee, violist Yi-wen chao, cellist Ross gasworth, and Vietnamese artists Ngo Hoang Linh, Phan Thanh Trinh, Vu Viet Chuong and violinist Bui Cong Duy – one of the founders of the festival.

The highlight of this festival is the diversity and richness in the music themes from all over Europe, especially in the Gala night show, which will include compositions by English, Russian, Hungarian, Czechoslovakia composers.

Chamber Concert "A Blue Night" by String Quartet of Hanoi

Manzi Art Space

This concert features a number of wonderful compositions by Georges Bizet, Astor Piazzolla, B. Howard and A. C. Jobim.

Performed by some of the finest musicians of Hanoi – violinists Le Tuan Anh and Nguyen Phuong Cham, violist Ho Viet Khoa and cellist Le Thi Nga, the concert promises to be a great event in Hanoi’s music calendar for this month.

This concert features the participation of conductor Honna Tetsuji, piano soloist Nguyen Viet Trung and the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra.

Photo Exhibition “Precious Heritage” by Réhahn

Vietnam Museum of Ethnology

Nguyen Van Huyen Street, Cau Giay District,

Retrace Réhahn’s steps as he visited remote villages to discover the fascinating diversity of Vietnam’s tribes through this selection of 35 photographs!

Réhahn has met 45 tribes out of the 54 found in Vietnam and he will present portraits of those who carry century-old traditions that compose the rich diversity of the Vietnamese ethnic culture.

Photo Exhibition “Rudel 2” by Sven Marquardt

This exhibition showcases photographic portraits of musicians at Ostgut Booking – an artist residence for DJs in Berlin – taken by photographer Sven Marquardt from 2007 to 2017.

Sven Marquardt’s work combines formal severity and clear imagery with bleak impermanence. His photos impress us through interaction of ease, severity and the dramatic art of monochrome contrasting.

Autumn Melodies Arts Festival

Ho Chi Minh City Opera House

200 artists from several European countries and the USA, alongside Vietnam’s best talents, will offer a musical extravaganza consisting of 12 programs ranging from opera, chamber music and symphonies to contemporary dance, all of which will be held at the Opera House in HCMC from 19 to 27 August.

The first of its kinds in the practice of academic arts, and periodically held across Vietnam, the Autumn Melodies Arts Festival 2017 will quench the thirst for music in all of the city’s music-loving hearts.

Exhibition “The Picture Will Still Exist”

Come and visit the exhibition The Picture Will Still Exist*, featuring photographs, paintings and video works selected from the Post Vidai Collection. The exhibition showcases eight established and emerging Vietnamese artists and collectives, including Dinh Q. Le, Hoang Duong Cam, Howard Henry Chen, Le Quy Tong, Ngoc Nau, Phuong Linh, The Propeller Group and Vo An Khanh. A number of artworks, such as Dinh Q. Le’s WTC in four moments (2014), The Propeller Group’s AK-47 vs. M16 (2015) and Phuong Linh’s Sanctified Clouds (2012-2015) will be on display to the Vietnamese public for the first time.

Exhibition “Muted Conversations” by Dat Vu

‘Muted Conversations’ is an ongoing photography project by Dat Vu that explores the spirituality and superstitions surrounding rituals in modern Vietnam. His photographic series includes both staged and candid images taken during his extensive travels across the country.

This exhibition aims to address the significance of traditional cultural practices as Vietnam rapidly transitions into a new era of economic possibility.

A Solo Exhibition by Ly Hoang Ly

Come and join Ly Hoàng Ly’s first solo exhibition, and most the comprehensive presentation of her work to date, as part of her on-going project ‘0395A.ĐC’. This multimedia, collaged body of work will showcase the artist’s ongoing inquiry into the epic story and continuous struggle of human (im)migration, whilst highlighting the contested nature of the memorisation, documentation and circulation of history.
