Tu Lien kumquat village prepares for Tet holiday

Kumquat trees, with an attractive shape and bearing a rich bounty of fruit, are preferred by customers

NDO - The Tu Lien village in Tay Ho district, Hanoi is famous for growing kumquat trees. In recent years, the majority of people in Tu Lien have begun to cultivate bonsai kumquat. Recognising the higher reward from growing the space saving bonsai kumquat rather than the traditional kumquat tree, Tu Lien villagers quickly increased the area of land and the number of bonsai kumquat trees, which have tripled compared to traditional kumquat.

According to Tu Lien people, kumquats this year are more beautiful than last year because of the favourable weather.

The kumquat growers tend to their beautiful kumquats to be ready in time for Tet.



Under the skillful hands of gardeners, the trees are trained into unique shapes.



In recent years, a majority of people in Tu Lien have converted from growing traditional kumquat in gardens to bonsai kumquat in vases.
