NA Standing Committee convenes eighth meeting

NDO – The eighth meeting of the 14th National Assembly Standing Committee (NASC) opened in Hanoi on March 14 and will conclude on March 21. A number of important contents are to be discussed in preparation for the upcoming third plenary session of the 14th NA.

Addressing the opening session, NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan stated that during its week-long sitting, the NASC will comment on five draft laws, which were debated for the first time at the second meeting of the NA previously, including the Law on Tourism (revised), the Law on Railways (revised), the Law on Technology Transfer (revised), the Law on Planning and the Law on Foreign Trade Management.

Legislators will also discuss four draft laws on fisheries (amended), forest protection and development (amended), public debt management (amended) and denunciations (amended), which will be submitted to the NA for consideration for the first time at the upcoming third session, she added.

At the eighth meeting, the NASC will consider and approve two draft resolutions stipulating the presentation format for legal documents produced by the NA, the NASC and the State President, and stipulating the supplementation of a number of conditions to ensure the operation of NA deputies.

NA Chairwoman Ngan clarified that due to changes in the working schedule, the question and answer session of the eighth meeting will be postponed until next month’s session.

Right after the opening remarks made by the top legislator, the NASC discussed and commented on the draft Law on Denunciations (revised) under the chair of NA Vice Chairman Uong Chu Luu.
