Quang Ninh told to promote creativity in education and health sectors

NDO - Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam asked Quang Ninh province to promote creativity in the fields of education and health to assist the Government and relevant ministries in completing policies and mechanisms for the comprehensive reform of the education and health sectors.
At the working visit to Quang Ninh on May 11, Deputy PM Dam also asked leaders of relevant ministries and agencies to review proposals from the province to work out solutions to obstacles in education and health development.
He applauded Quang Ninh province for implementing reforms and changes in the areas of education and health which will be valuable experience for other localities to follow, particularly a good health system at the grassroots level, creating favourable conditions for increasing the rate of people examined.
Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Nguyen Van Doc said that the province has paid special attention to the education and health sectors over the past time and has made significant regular investment in these areas to upgrade infrastructure.
Currently, the province has an average 42.3 beds per 10,000 people and 14.5 doctors per 10,000 people in addition to an 89% coverage rate of health insurance, Doc noted. He added that the province has shifted some State agencies in the heath sector to business models to enhance efficiency.
High quality health services have also been brought to remote and disadvantaged areas to ensure equality in health examination and treatment. More than 20,000 local people in 39 disadvantaged communes were provided with free medicines worth over VND1 billion (US$44,000) in 2016, Doc said.
The Secretary also asked for suitable policies for health and education workers in remote and disadvantaged areas while reviewing the standards set for workers in these fields in accordance with the reality.
On the same day, the PM visited Yen Thanh Primary School in Uong Bi city and a health station in Cong Hoa district along with a health centre in Quang Yen town.
