Requiem commemorates heroic martyrs in Quang Tri

NDO – A grand requiem was held at the Quang Tri ancient citadel in the central province of the same name on July 14 to pay tribute to heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives for national liberation.

The event was part of activities to celebrate 70th anniversary of war invalids’ and martyrs’ day (July 27, 1947-2017).

The requiem was attended by Politburo member and Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue.

The solemn rituals were implemented and incenses and thousands of candles were lit to commemorate soldiers who bravely fought and sacrificed their lives for the cause of national liberation and the country’s peace.

In addition, participants at the requiem also prayed for a peaceful country and prosperous people.

In the same evening, the Deputy PM, other delegates and people offered incenses and laid wreaths at Qaung Tri Ancient Citadel Monument and dropped flowers into Thach Han river to show gratitude to the heroic martyrs who laid down their lives in battlefields to protect the Quang Tri Ancient Citadel in 1972.

On the occasion, Deputy PM Hue, along with representatives of ministries and agencies, presented gifts to 62 Heroic Mothers in Quang Tri province at a ceremony held on the same day.

The Deputy PM affirmed that the Party and State always remember and honour great contributions of the mothers, policy beneficiary families, martyrs’ families and revolutionary contributors.
