NDO – Minister of Defence, Gen. Ngo Xuan Lich, asked the Hung Yen provincial Military Command to continue performing its advisory work for local party committees and authorities in effectively leading and implementing their professional affairs, during his working trip to the northern province on March 3.

Gen. Lich, who also serves as the Vice Secretary of the Central Military Commission, spoke highly of the significant results attained by Hung Yen’s Party organisation, authorities and armed forces in implementing their socio-economic tasks, building new-style rural areas and ensuring national defence and security.

He requested that the provincial Military Command strictly maintains its combat readiness, whilst effectively performing the work of calling up and selecting citizens for military services.

The province’s military agencies at all levels should work closely with the public security forces to safeguard political security and social order, and effectively mobilise the public to engage in socio-economic development, the Politburo member stated.

At the meeting, Chairman of the Hung Yen provincial People’s Committee, Nguyen Van Phong, recommended that the Defence Ministry, together with the relevant bodies, pay greater attention to vocational training for rookies who return home after completing their military obligations, as well as to support the construction and upgrade of more houses for policy beneficiary families.

On the occasion, Defence Minister Ngo Xuan Lich paid a floral tribute to late General Secretary Nguyen Van Linh at a monument dedicated to him and planted a memorial tree within the grounds of the monument.
