NDO – Standing Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly, Tong Thi Phong, has urged Tuyen Quang to fully tap into its local advantages in order to boost its socio-economic development and improve its residents’ standard of living.

Politburo member Phong made the request during her working trip to the northern province on March 3-4.

She praised the efforts made by the Party organisation, authorities and people of Tuyen Quang in performing their socio-economic tasks and ensuring security and national defence, stating that the province’s experience in the construction of new-style rural areas is a valuable lesson for other localities across the country to follow, especially mountainous regions.

The senior legislator encouraged Tuyen Quang to pay greater attention to human resource development and create the most favourable conditions for minority ethnic children to pursue their academic studies, thus contributing to effectively implementing the Party and State’s policies on ethnic issues.

During their trip, Politburo member Phong and the working delegation of the NA offered incense and planted memorial trees at the Kim Binh special national historical relic, the hosting venue of the second National Party Congress in 1951.

They also visited and presented gifts to policy beneficiary families and poor households in the communes of Kim Binh (Chiem Hoa district) and Nang Kha (Na Hang district), whilst visiting, presenting gifts and planting memorial trees at several local schools and the Tuyen Quang Hydropower Plant.
