Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee reviews socio-economic development

NDO – The Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, in its tenth tenure, convened its 17th meeting from July 4-6, to review the local socio-economic development during the 2016-2018 period and set out its tasks and solutions from now until 2020.

Politburo member and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, Nguyen Thien Nhan, chaired the meeting.

During the event, the delegates focused their discussion on the mid-term review reports on the implementation of the Resolution of the 12th National Party Congress, the Resolution of the 10th municipal Party Congress on Party and political system building; the implementation of the seven breakthrough programmes set at the 10th municipal Party Congress; as well as the local socio-economic development in the first six months and the tasks in the remaining months of the year.

In his remarks, Secretary of the municipal Party Committee, Nguyen Thien Nhan, said the mid-term review gave a comprehensive assessment of the leadership and management in enforcing the resolutions of the municipal Party’s Committee’s Congress for the 2015-2020 tenure.

He also urged for a more drastic implementation of the National Assembly’s Resolution No.54 to pilot special mechanisms and policies for the city’s development.

At the conference, the municipal People’s Committee set out key tasks for the remaining months of the year, including; the continued enforcement of Resolution No.54, improving the local economy’s competitiveness and business climate, developing mechanisms for capital mobilisation for development, accelerating trade and investment promotion overseas in order to seek new markets, and ensuring social welfare.
