NDO/VNA - The National Steering Committee for Construction of Special Administrative-Economic Units convened a meeting in Hanoi on July 10 under the chair of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, head of the committee.

The meeting aims to acquire instructions from the Politburo and opinions from veteran officials, National Assembly deputies, experts, scientists, and people across the country.

The National Assembly decided to postpone the approval of the draft Law on Special Administrative-Economic Units at a meeting in May in order to have more time for consideration and completion.

Amendments to the draft law based on the constructive opinions acquired must ensure the national territorial sovereignty and integrity is kept intact, while also safeguarding the security and defence of the special zones and the country.

Vietnam is planning to build the three special administrative-economic zones of Van Don in northern Quang Ninh province, Bac Van Phong in central Khanh Hoa province, and Phu Quoc in southern Kien Giang province.
