NDO—The Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations in co-ordination with the Hanoi Department of Tourism and the Thach That District People’s Committee organised a friendship spring tour for about 300 delegates, who are government officials and representatives of diplomatic missions and international organisations in Vietnam on March 18.

The delegates visited Tay Phuong Pagoda, a special relic site in Hanoi. The pagoda is renowned for its lacquered wood statues of arhats, considered among Southeast Asia’s most beautiful statues.

It was built in the late 16th and early 17th Centuries during the later Le Dynasty era on Tay Phuong Mountain in Thach Xa Village, about 30km west of central Hanoi.

The tour is organised annually to introduce Vietnam’s historic relic sites and tourist attractions to foreign friends, said Nguyen Lan Huong, Chairwoman of the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organisations (HUFO).

It helps promote exchanges and mutual understanding between Vietnam and foreign countries, Huong highlighted, she noted.

The trip ended with a show of ao dai (traditional long tunic) and dancing and singing performance.
