Vietnam, Laos enhance cooperation in building border areas

NDO – The Vietnam Fatherland Front and Lao Front for National Construction held an international conference on building a borderline of peace, friendship, cooperation and development for the 2017-2020 period.
In attendance at the event were member of Party Central Committee and President of Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF), Tran Thanh Man and member of the Central Committee of the Lao People's
Revolutionary Party and Vice President of Lao Front for National Construction Khambay Damlat, along with representatives of other agencies and leaders of ten provinces sharing the Vietnam-Lao borderline.
At the conference, the two fronts set forth the tasks and directions for coordination in building a Vietnam – Lao borderline of peace, friendship, cooperation and development for 2017-2020.
The tasks will focus on communication and education among the people of the two countries of the special solidarity between the two nations, as well as the enhancement of economic development, improvement of the people’s lives and ensuring security and order in the border areas of the ten provinces sharing the Vietnam – Lao borderline.
Addressing the event, the VFF President Tran Thanh Man emphasised that in the current situation, the two countries should tighten the traditional friendship and special solidarity between the two nations.
He added that thanks to exchanges and cooperation activities in border areas the living standards of the citizens and the socio-economic conditions in border localities have been improved.
Earlier on July 13, the delegation of VFF and Lao Front for National Construction presented 40 gifts to people around Na Phau international border gate in Kham Muon province, Lao and Cha Lo border gate in Quang Binh province, Vietnam.
