NDO/VNA – Vietnam and Indonesia will enhance their collaboration in operational audits, environmental audits and audit quality management as per a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on public sector auditing cooperation signed between the two national audit agencies on November 5.

The signing of the MoU between the Vietnam State Audit Office and the Audit Board of Indonesia took place in Vientiane, Laos, on the sidelines of the 4th ASEAN Supreme Audit Institution Summit (ASEANSAI).

According to the MoU, both sides agreed to exchange their knowledge concerning auditing performance in the public sector, and hold training courses and conferences, in addition to cooperating in other area related to public sector auditing and supporting each other at multilateral forums.

At the signing ceremony, Vietnam’s State Auditor General Ho Duc Phoc said that since both sides established cooperative ties in 1999 and signed a MoU in 2011 in Bali, the two audit institutions have held conferences to exchange experience in the fields of mutual interest.

Vietnam hails the practical cooperative activities with Indonesia’s audit body, he noted, expressing his hope that the MoU would serve as a catalyst to enhance the auditing capacity of the two organisations and contribute to transparent finance management in the region.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the Audit Board of Indonesia Moermahadi said that the bilateral cooperation will promote the audit capacity of both sides.

ASEANSAI was founded in Jakarta, Indonesia, in 2011 by Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam.

It aims to build capacity and bolster cooperation and understanding among its members through the exchange and sharing of knowledge and experience in public sector auditing. ASEANSAI also provides a conductive environment and facilities to promote research and training between its members, while serving as a centre of information.
