Politburo member: Vietnam wants to enhance its cooperation with Russia

NDO – Vietnam always treasures its traditional friendship with Russia, whilst wishing to strengthen its cooperation with the country across all fields, Politburo member Tran Quoc Vuong has said.

During a working session with Deputy Chairwoman of the State Duma of Russia Irina Yarovaya, in Moscow on December 6, Politburo member Tran Quoc Vuong, who is Secretary of the Party Central Committee (PCC), head of the committee’s Inspection Commission and standing member of the PCC Secretariat, thanked President Vladimir Putin and the Russian leaders and people for helping Vietnam to overcome the consequences of the recent floods.

Both sides agreed that the ties between the two countries’ legislative bodies have improved with the regular exchange of visits at all levels.

Deputy Chairwoman of the State Duma of Russia Irina Yarovaya said that Russian political parties in the Duma always support strengthening their ties with Vietnam.

Both host and guest stressed the need to enhance the inspection of the implementation of agreements between the two governments, especially the free trade agreement between Vietnam and the Eurasian Economic Union.

During other talks, the Vietnamese guest and Director General of the United Russia Party’s Institute for Foreign Policy Studies and Initiatives Veronika Krasheninnikova discussed ways to boost the ties between the two Parties, including facilitating high-level visits in order to share experience in state and social management, enhancing exchanges between the two parties’ mass organisations, particularly younger generations, and increasing links at multilateral political forums.

Later, they co-chaired a Party consultation on issues of shared concern.

At the event, Politburo member and head of the CPV Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations Hoang Binh Quan and Deputy Secretary of the General Council of the United Russia Party Sergei Zheleznyak signed a cooperation deal between the two Parties for 2018-2021.

The Vietnamese delegation is visiting Russia from December 5-10.
