NDO - The US Navy aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson, along with the guided missile cruiser USS Lake Champlain, and destroyer USS Wayne E Meyer docked at Tien Sa port in central Da Nang City on March 5, beginning a five-day visit to the city.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the visit is made with the permission of the Vietnamese Government.

During their stay, US officers and sailors will join a number of activities including courtesy visits to the city’s leaders, technical exchanges, sports matches, and other community activities.

The visit aims to deliver on the agreement reached by the two countries’ high-ranking leaders in the joint statement issued by Vietnam and the US during President Donald Trump’s visit to Vietnam in November 2017.

This event will also contribute to affirming Vietnam's capability of ensuring logistics and technical ability while receiving foreign naval ships, thereby enhancing the position and role of Vietnam in the region and around the world, as well as promoting the image of the country and its people.
