NDO/VNA – Ho Chi Minh City wants to foster ties with the Republic of Korea (RoK) in the fields of education and training, Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong told Chairman of the Korea-Asia Friendship Foundation (KAFF) Choi Jae-sung on July 14.

At a reception held for the Korean guest, Phong hailed the KAFF for launching the construction of a centre to improve teachers’ capacity in the city.

He pledged to give all possible support to the Korean community living in the city so that they may become a bridge connecting Ho Chi Minh City and the RoK in the fields of economy, culture and education.

Choi, for his part, said that the RoK wishes to further enhance all-round ties with Vietnam, including economic, trade and education cooperation with Ho Chi Minh City.

He added that the non-governmental KAFF will launch joint education projects and increase the exchange of lecturers between the two countries, in the near future.

As home to nearly 100,000 Koreans, Ho Chi Minh City has so far signed cooperation agreements with five RoK cities.
