Ho Chi Minh City and Osaka Prefecture enhance trade and investment cooperation

NDO - Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong hosted a reception for Chairman of the Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry Hiroshi Ozaki, on November 22.
At the meeting, Chairman Nguyen Thanh Phong emphasised that Vietnam-Japan relations have been developing strongly across many fields.
High-level visits by the leaders of Japan and Vietnam over recent times have demonstrated the confidence and determination of both sides to strengthen their cooperation he said, adding that in the near future, the bilateral relations between Vietnam and Japan will be further strengthened; especially in 2018 as the two countries celebrate the 45th founding anniversary of their diplomatic ties.
The Ho Chi Minh City Chairman affirmed that on the basis of the time-honoured friendship between the two countries and the potential for cooperation between the two regions, Ho Chi Minh City wishes to further step up its cooperation activities with Osaka, especially in the fields of economics, trade and investment.
The city pledges to create favourable conditions for foreign businesses, including businesses from Osaka, to invest in such areas as high-tech waste treatment, renewable energy, medicine, and pharmaceutical industry.
While expressing his gratitude to the Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry for coordinating and facilitating the successful organisation of the Ho Chi Minh Tourism Investment Promotion Conference in Osaka, in April, 2017, Chairman Phong asked the Chamber to continue prioritising the activities connecting businesses in Kansai and Ho Chi Minh City, as well as further strengthening the cooperative relationship between the two localities, while realising the signed cooperation agreements.
For his part, Hiroshi Ozaki said that many Osaka businesses are currently investing in Ho Chi Minh City and other localities Vietnam. The success of Japanese enterprises in Ho Chi Minh City is partly due to the support and attention of the city leaders and related departments.
Osaka businesses are willing to share their experience and support Ho Chi Minh City in addressing the urban issues facing the city in order to ensure a balance in economic development and environmental protection, he noted.
He also pledged that, in the near future, the Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry will actively carry out programmes to link enterprises and promote investment between the two localities, contributing to promoting theh comprehensive cooperation between Osaka Prefecture and Ho Chi Minh City and between Japan and Vietnam in general.
