Birthday of Japanese Emperor celebrated in Ho Chi Minh City

NDO – A get-together was held by the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organisations (HUFO) and the Vietnam – Japan Friendship Association, Ho Chi Minh City branch on December 6 to celebrate the birthday of Japanese Emperor Akihito (December 23, 1933-2017).
The event was attended by Kaweue Junichi, Japanese Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City.
Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of Vietnam – Japan Friendship Association, Ho Chi Minh City branch, Nguyen Cong Tanh extended his congratulations to Japanese friends on the occasion of the 84th birthday of Japanese Emperor.
He also emphasised that in the past year, in addition to high-level visits made by State leaders from the two countries, Japanese Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko paid their first visit to Vietnam, significantly contributing to deepening the relations between the two nations in all fields including politics, economy, and culture as well as people exchanges.
The Chairman of Vietnam – Japan Friendship Association, Ho Chi Minh City branch, noted that over the past year, the association, in collaboration with the HUFO, has held numerous people-to-people exchange activities, particularly promoting exchanges between students from the two countries as well as cultural exchanges.
The year 2018 will mark the 45th anniversary of Vietnam – Japan diplomatic ties, so a wide variety of meaningful events will be held to strengthen the long-term friendship between the two nations.
For his part, Japanese Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City Tawaue Junichi expressed his sincere gratitude to the HUFO and the Vietnam – Japan Friendship Association for their celebration of the 84th birthday of Emperor Akihito.
He expressed his hope that the Japanese side will continue to receive close cooperation from the HUFO and the association in implementing cultural exchange activities in the City in 2018, contributing to the multi-layered relations between the two nations in general, between Japan and Ho Chi Minh City in particular.
