NDO – The Vietnam-Russia Tropical Centre (VRTC) needs to promote its internal power, expand its cooperation, improve the efficiency of its science-technology activities, and practically serve the defence and socio-economic tasks of the two countries, President Tran Dai Quang has stated.

The State leader made the statement while addressing a ceremony to mark the 30th anniversary of the VRTC (March 7, 1988-2018) in Hanoi on March 7, which was also attended by Russian Ambassador to Vietnam Konstantain Vnukov.

He congratulated the VRTC on the anniversary of its foundation, stressing that the centre has affirmed its role as an important multidisciplinary science-technology research institution on the tropical issues in Vietnam and Russia, contributing to strengthening the traditional friendly relations and strategic cooperation between the two countries.

President Quang asked the centre to harmoniously combine basic research, applied research, and technology transfer in service of defence and economic tasks; to step up the application of research results and the development of a number of products with high scientific and technological content; and to enhance its cooperation in research activities, in-depth investment, and the modernisation of infrastructure and technology.

He expressed his belief that the Vietnam-Russia Tropical Centre would continue to effectively implement the motto of “cooperative, creative, efficient and substantive” and strive to achieve greater results, thus deserving to be a leading scientific and technological research centre of both Vietnam and Russia.
