NDO - Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Ngo Duc Mạnh held a session with First Vice Chairman of the State Duma Ivan Melnikov at the State Duma headquarters on March 20 to find solutions to remove difficulties for the Vietnamese community in Russia.

The meeting also saw the participation of officials from the Vietnamese Embassy in Russia, leaders of the Association of Vietnamese people in Russia and representatives from Moscow administration, Krasnodar province, and the Vietnam Business Association in Russia.

Ambassador Ngo Duc Manh expressed his gratitude to Russian authorities for creating favourable conditions for the Vietnamese community in Russia to live, study and work. He also highlighted the role of the Vietnamese community in making positive contributions to the host country and serving as a bridge between the two countries.

In addition, the Ambassador talked over current difficulties that the Vietnamese community is facing in Russia. Thus, the officials pointed out six issues concerning immigration, study, tourism, production and business, labour, and residence in addition to 14 specific proposals for leaders of the State Duma and other related ministries and agencies to address.

First Vice Chairman of the State Duma Ivan Melnikov said that the Vietnamese community in Russia is a hardworking community of solidarity, adding that the Russian authorities will study thoroughly the Vietnamese proposals as well as the current regulations of Russian law to resolve difficulties and create favourable conditions for Vietnamese people to integrate into the life of the host country.

The meeting was organised based on the initiative of Ambassador Ngo Duc Manh, which was discussed by Chairman of the State Duma Viacheslav Volodin in his meetings with Vietnamese Party and State leaders during his official visit to Vietnam in December 2018.

The Chairman of the State Duma assigned Ivan Melnikov and Ambassador Ngo Duc Manh to listen to and gather opinions from the Vietnamese community in Russia and to work with relevant Russian agencies to address aforementioned issues in the spirit of traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries so that the Vietnamese community may promote their role and contribute significantly to connecting and deepening the bilateral relationship between the two countries.
