NDO – The 2017 Eco-products International Fair (EPIF), themed ‘Green technology and products – Action for the future’, officially opened at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Centre in Ho Chi Minh City on May 11.

The event is jointly held by the Asian Productivity Organisation (APO), the Vietnam Environment Administration (VEA) and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI).

The participating domestic and foreign enterprises are showcasing their latest green equipment, technologies and services, thereby establishing and developing their partnerships as well as boosting their investment, trade promotion and technology transfer activities.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Tran Viet Thanh emphasised that EPIF 2017 is a significant event for the economic development orientation of Vietnam.

This is also a practical event to raise public awareness of sustainable growth and development thanks to the production and consumption of environmentally friendly green products, technologies and services.

According to VCCI Vice President Hoang Quang Phong, the fair offers an opportunity for the domestic economic managers and experts to build strategies, identify market demand and find solutions to promote green growth in Vietnam.

Chairman of the Japanese Green Productivity Advisory Committee, Hajime Bada, said that EPIF is a chance for enterprises that have complied with standards in producing eco-products to introduce their sustainable products and models to their partners and consumers.

He also noted that EPIF will contribute to establishing partnership in supporting and transferring green production technology and clean energy, towards sustainable development among nations.

EPIF was launched by the APO in 2004 and has been held interchangeably in member countries. This is the second-time Vietnam has hosted the fair.

The 2017 EPIF will last until May 13.
