NDO – The Technology Demonstration and Connection Conference 2018 (TechDemo) opened in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho on October 4, aiming to introduce the latest scientific and technological research results and products to help enhance the capacity of technological application and the quality and effectiveness of technology transfers.

The three-day event, jointly held by the Vietnamese Ministry of Science and Technology and Can Tho People's Committee, attracts nearly 500 technological products, processes and equipment from 120 enterprises, research institutes, universities, and scientific and technological organisations in Vietnam, and from foreign countries in Asia and Europe.

The products, which focus on agro-forestry and fishery, new materials, mechanical engineering, electronics, biochemical technology, pharmaceuticals and renewable energy, will be introduced and demonstrated at the event.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology, Tran Van Tung, emphasised the important role of demonstrations and connections in technology supply and demand in promoting technological application, transfer and renewal.

The activities will help to improve the competitiveness of enterprises' goods and create conditions for scientists to apply their results in reality, thus contributing to socio-economic development and bringing about practical economic efficiency, Tung affirmed.

At the opening, 10 contracts and agreements were signed among the local and foreign enterprises on technology transfer and equipment supply worth hundreds of billions of VND.

The organising board also held a trophy presenting ceremony to honour eight typical technology innovation enterprises nationwide.

Earlier, a connection centre for technology supply and demand in Can Tho, the first one of its kind in the Mekong Delta, was opened to support local units and enterprises in promoting the application of science and technology in production and business operations.
