Deputy PM Hue praises Van Lang University’s development orientations

NDO - Deputy PM Vuong Dinh Hue has praised Van Lang University, a private institution, for its development orientations that place a strong emphasis on collaboration with enterprises.

The deputy PM made the remark on February 23 at a ceremony to commence construction of Van Lang University’s third campus in Ho Chi Minh City.

He said the university’s aim is to forge a close connection between training and research, theory and practice and ensuring its major facilities meet international standards, is in line with the development of higher education institutions in the world.

He emphasised that high-quality human resources are an important factor to socio-economic development.

He added that the government will discuss and soon submit the Law on Higher Education to the National Assembly as a way to improve manpower quality to serve rapid and sustainable economic growth.

Construction of a third campus is part of a plan to make Van Lang University on par with other institutions in the region and the world by applying international educational standards.

Established in 1995, Van Lang University has made significant progress over the past 20 years, growing from a small institution with only 61 staff members to the current 541 members.

The university is offering BA degree programmes in 19 disciplines and master’s degree courses in two disciplines.
