Party, State leaders congratulate medical officials and employees

NDO – Party and State leaders on February 25 visited and congratulated several medical facilities and doctors on the occasion of the 62nd anniversary of Vietnamese Doctors’ Day (February 27, 1955-2017).

Visiting Pasteur Institute of Ho Chi Minh City, Politburo member, Secretary of Party Central Committee and Head of the PCC’s Commission for Education and Communication Vo Van Thuong expressed his pleasure at the achievements that the institute has gained over the recent time.

He also appreciated its efforts in thoroughly grasping and implementing Resolution No. 46-NQ/TW released by the Politburo (11th tenure) on February 23, 2015 and Conclusion No.118-KL/TW issued on January 4, 2016 by the PCC’s Secretariat relating to the protection, care for and improvement of people’s health in the current situation.

The Politburo member said that Pasteur Institute has successfully fulfilled its important tasks of supporting techniques and transferring technology in monitoring, diagnosis and test activities for medical facilities in lower levels.

The institute has also significantly contributed to successfully controlling and preventing the penetration and spread of dangerous diseases such as SARS, avian influenza A/H5N1, MersCoV and Ebola; as well as limiting the mortality and complications of epidemics including dengue, Zika and hand-foot-mouth disease, added Politburo member Thuong.

The unit must actively monitor and assess trends, promptly detect and proactively prevent and control different kinds of diseases as well as promote the communication of preventive health care, noted the Politburo member.

On the occasion, he visited and congratulated People’s Teacher, Professor and Dr. Nguyen Dinh Hoi, former Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Medicine and Pharmacy. Politburo member Thuong appreciated the great contributions made by the Professor to the cause of education and healthcare in the country.

On the same day, Politburo member and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee visited, congratulated and presented flowers to Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Thi Trung Chien, former Minister of Health.

He expressed his respect to the Associate Professor and doctors who are devoting themselves to the cause of care for and protection of people’s health around the country, from cities and villages, to remote areas and islands.

Politburo member Thang believed that doctor Chien would be an outstanding example for the medical sector in general and young doctors in particular.
