NDO – The National Committee on Youth of Vietnam (NCYV) and the National Youth Council of Singapore (NYC) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on youth cooperation between the two sides at a ceremony in Hanoi, on April 18.

Over the past years, Vietnam and Singapore have seen significant outcomes in bilateral youth cooperation, with opportunities created for the youth and youth leaders of the two countries to meet and exchange, thus strengthening friendship, mutual understanding and collaboration between the youth and people of both sides.

On that basis, the NCYV and the NYC decided to sign a new MoU on bilateral youth cooperation for the period 2017-2020, seeking to continue maintaining the exchange of official delegates in charge of youth affairs and youth delegates for the purposes of studying, research and exchange.

Particularly, the two sides will coordinate with each other to organise voluntary activities for young people, and strengthen the exchange between young entrepreneurs as well as startup cooperations between the youths of the two nations.

Addressing the signing ceremony, Minister of Culture, Community and Youth, Grace Fu, who also serves as the President of the NYC, noted that Singapore highly appreciated the role played by the youths of ASEAN member-nations, including Vietnam, for their increasingly important positions in their respective countries.

The Singaporean youth will continue accompanying Vietnam’s young people in the future in order to build a fine relationship between the two countries and together boost national development, Fu said.

Le Quoc Phong, First Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee and Chairman of the NCYV, hailed the signing ceremony as a continuation of the success reached by both sides over the past years.

He expressed hope that the signed contents will be implemented successfully, thus inculcating practical values among the youth of both countries and contributeing significantly to developing fine relations between Vietnam and Singapore.
