NDO – An action plan was recently promulgated by the Prime Minister to realise Vietnam’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Vietnam’s national action plan features 115 goals, which were devised based on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The agenda was approved at a United Nations summit in New York from September 25-27, 2015.

The plan has set targets to maintain sustainable economic growth associated with exercising social progress and equality and protecting the ecological environment; to effectively manage and use natural resources and proactively respond to climate change.

It also seeks to ensure people’s rights to promote their potential, participate in the development process and equally enjoy benefits, with the aim of building a peaceful, prosperous, democratic, equitable, civilised and sustainable Vietnamese society.

Under the plan, in 2018 ministries, sectors, localities, agencies, and organisations will be required to complete the building of their own projects with specific tasks to realise the plan.

A sustainable development platform will be completed in the 2017-2020 period. In the 2021-2030 period, solutions and measures will be implemented comprehensively.

Activities will be held at the same time to enhance human resources and raise public awareness of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Vietnam’s action plan to fulfil the SDGs.
