Deputy PM urges national contributors to be role models

NDO – Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam has suggested that national contributors from Dong Nai province should promote their revolutionary tradition to act as good models for locals to follow, contributing to local socio-economic development and building a prosperous country.

The government senior official made the suggestion while hosting the delegation of revolutionary contributors from the southern province at the government headquarters yesterday.

Reporting to the deputy PM, Deputy Head of Dong Nai Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, Ho Van Loc stated that the province has more than 56,000 people with commendable services to the revolution, of which more than 13,000 beneficiaries receive monthly allowances.

Over the past years, Dong Nai has synchronously implemented a range of programmes related to national contributors, such as posthumously conferring the title of Vietnamese Heroic Mother, building gratitude houses for contributors, and resolving uncompleted policies for people involved in national liberation.

Every year, the central budget allocates over VND250 billion to Dong Nai for the implementation of preferential policies for those with admirable services, as well as preferential policies on education , housing, health care, and vocational training for members of policy families.

The provincial budget also spends over VND20 billion in order to give gifts during national holidays. In the past five years, the gratitude funds have mobilised over VND22 billion and set up 422 savings books worth VND941 million for national contributors.

Wishing for the delegation members good health, Deputy PM Dam expressed his deep gratitude to heroic martyrs and people with meritorious services towards the revolution. He affirmed that the Party, State and political system always strive to do their utmost to take care of the life of policy beneficiaries and their families.

He added that over the past 20 years, Vietnam has been ranked among the fastest growing countries in the world, but even more noteworthy is that the international community acknowledges that this growth has been largely reserved for underprivileged people in disadvantaged and isolated areas.

The deputy PM further affirmed that in order to improve the lives of local people, including those with meritorious services and policy families, the country needs to develop at a faster pace and strive to be more sustainable , while addressing challenges posed during the building and defending the Fatherland.

Praising Dong Nai’s great efforts in regards to caring for the material and spiritual lives of war invalids, wounded soldiers, policy families and people with praiseworthy services, Deputy PM Dam urged local authorities in the future to promote its activities of gratitude to ensure that policy families and national contributors’ living standards are equal to or higher than the average of local residents.

He also asked revolutionary contributors of Dong Nai to promote their roles in studying and working for others to follow, while taking the lead in monitoring and implementing democracy in grassroots to build a clean and strong government.
