Can Tho - Phung Hiep BOT toll station reduces fees

NDO - The Ministry of Transport has agreed to reduce fees collected at the Can Tho - Phung Hiep Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) toll station in Can Tho city.

The fees will see a decrease of 7-15% for all kinds of tickets sold at the toll station, following a proposal from the Directorate for Roads of Vietnam.

In addition, owners of vehicles living in the vicinity of the Can Tho - Phung Hiep BOT toll station including Ba Lang ward in Cai Rang district, Can Tho city and Tan Phu Thanh commune in Chau Thanh A district, Hau Giang province will enjoy an additional fee reduction of 30 - 35% while fees for buses have been slashed by 100%.

After the reduction, the lowest fee level is VND30,000 per vehicle and the highest level is VND180,000 per vehicle, instead of VND35,000 and VND200,000 respectively.

The fee decrease will come into effect from December 20, 2017.

The project to expand National Highway 1's Can Tho - Phung Hiep section measuring 22km has a total investment of over VND1.8 trillion (US$79.2 million) which was completed in late 2015.

The toll station began fee collection from April 2016 at price levels ranging from VND35,000 to VND200,000 per vehicle which drawing complaints from drivers for being too high.
