Chairman of Japan Cherry Blossom Association awarded friendship insignia

NDO – The Vietnam Union of Friendship Associations (VUFO) held a ceremony on December 13 to award the ‘For the cause of Peace and Friendship among Nations’ insignia to Takaoka Terumi, Chairman of the Japan Cherry Blossom Association.

The accolade was presented in recognition of the Japanese cultural official’s contributions to boosting the cultural exchanges between people in Vietnam and Japan.

Speaking highly of Terumi’s contributions, VUFO Vice Chairman Bui Khac Son expressed his hope that the Japanese official would make further contributions to enhancing the mutual understanding and cooperation between the peoples of the two countries.

Expressing his honour at receiving the Vietnamese medal, Terumi pledged to continue working closely with the Vietnam – Japan Friendship Association in order to increase the cultural exchanges between the two countries, while contributing to boosting the Vietnam – Japan friendship and cooperation.

On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic ties and the 60th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory in 2014, the Japan Cherry Blossom Association gifted 1,000 cherry blossom trees to Vietnam’s Dien Bien province.

This year, another 1,000 cherry blossom trees were also presented by the association to the northern provinces of Yen Bai and Ha Giang.
