Deputy PM Dam urges development of information and communication

NDO - The information and communication sector should continue to improve its institutions and develop mechanisms and policies to enhance its development in the near future.

The statement was made by Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam, while attending a national online conference held by the Ministry of Information and Communication (MoIT) to review its work in 2017 and deploy its tasks for 2018.

Addressing the event, the Deputy PM expressed his appreciation for the achievements that the information and communication sector has gained over the past few years, significantly contributing to the country’s socio-economic development, defence and security, as well as improving Vietnam’s position within the international arena.

He also highly valued the consensus among the entire community to create favourable conditions for information and communication activities.

Deputy PM Dam asked the sector to continue raising the capacity and efficiency of state management from central to local levels and to actively promote the integration into international economies, in addition to improving the management skills, productivity and business efficiency of information and communication enterprises.

He said that the MoIT should take the lead in information and communication activities, particularly in planning press agencies under the ministry.

The Deputy PM also urged the ministry to actively apply information and technological advances in State management, while solving administrative procedures and performing public services.

On the occasion, six outstanding units in the sector’s emulation movement in 2017 received the Government’s emulation flags, whilst 36 agencies were awarded the MoIT’s emulation flags.
In addition, the MoIT launched an emulation movement for 2018.
