NDO - Thousands of poor people have been presented with Tet gifts and offered free medical check-ups under a charitable programme rolled out in Hanoi’s outlying district of Thach That.

The programme was jointly organised by the Thach That People’s Committee, the Hanoi Red Cross Society, and Xu Doai May Trang Company.

The organisers delivered 1,000 gifts, each worth VND500,000, to the Red Cross Societies of 23 communes in Thach That. The gifts will later be distributed to poor people and policy beneficiary families.

Fifty bicycles were also presented to disadvantaged schoolchildren.

Nearly 500 senior citizens were given free medical check-ups and advised on how to best protect their health.
