NDO - A variety of activities have been organised to warm the hearts of underprivileged people throughout the country on the occasion of the fast-approaching traditional Lunar New Year (Tet), the biggest holiday in Vietnam.

National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan visited and presented gifts to child cancer patients, who are being treated at the Hanoi-based National Institute of Haematology and Blood Transfusion, on February 5.

The NA leader presented 100 gift packages, each worth VND1 million (around US$47) to the child patients.

On the same day, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Tran Thanh Man, alongside the authorities of the Mekong Delta province of An Giang, visited and presented Tet gifts to the officers and soldiers at Nhon Hung Border Guard Station.

In addition, 100 gift packages worth VND1.2 million each were also presented to needy people in Tri Ton and Tinh Bien districts.
