VND7 trillion allocated to upgrade four railway projects

NDO – The railway sector has decided to allocate VND7 trillion (US$308.7 million) to upgrade four essential projects on the Hanoi – Ho Chi Minh City railway route during the 2017-2020 period.

Accordingly, the Hanoi – Vinh and Nha Trang – Saigon sections will have a total investment of VND1.6 trillion and VND1.8 trillion, respectively.

The unstable tunnels and essential works at Vinh – Nha Trang section are also expected to be renovated with an investment of VND1.8 trillion.

In addition, the upgrade of weak bridges and anti-bucket towers on the Hanoi – Ho Chi Minh City route is estimated at VND1.8 trillion.

The railway route from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City has a total length of 1,726 kilometres, running through 26 provinces and cities.

With major stations located in the centre of the provinces and cities it is the main route for transport business of the railway sector, therefore, the renovation and upgrade aims to increase its output and revenue.
