NDO - The National Council on Labour Safety and Hygiene held its 2018 dialogue in Hanoi, on April 11, in response to World Day for Safety and Health at Work (April 28) and in preparation for the national action month on labour safety and hygiene in May.

This year, the World Day for Safety and Health at Work and the World Day against Child Labour are coming together in a joint campaign to improve the safety and health of young workers and to end child labour.

In Vietnam, over 1 million youths enter the labour market each year, with the number of workers aged from 15-24 accounting for 15% of the country’s total workforce.

Also in May, the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs will join the relevant ministries and sectors to submit amendments to the Government on several regulations concerning administrative procedure reform, as well as proposing a number of measures to solve any shortcomings in implementing the State laws and regulations in the field.

An action month on labour safety and hygiene will also be launched across the country. This year’s theme focuses on issues related to high-risk occupations and solutions to reduce labour accidents.
