NDO - The National Press Festival 2019 aims to honour the great achievements of the Vietnamese press and promote press products by journalists across the country, said Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper and Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists' Association, Thuan Huu.

Thuan Huu made the remarks at the National Press Festival 2019, which opened at the Hanoi Museum on March 15 under the theme "Renovated, creative, responsible Vietnamese press for the interest of the nation and people”.

This is the fourth year that the festival has been held by the Vietnam Journalists' Association, the Party Central Committee (PCC) Commission for Communication and Education, the Hanoi municipal People's Committee, the Ministry of Information and Communications, and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The opening ceremony saw the presence of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Head of the PCC’s Commission for Communication and Education Vo Van Thuong, Head of the PCC's Commission for Mass Mobilisation Truong Thi Mai, and others. Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong also sent a basket of flowers to the festival.

Thuan Huu said that this year's press festival is on a larger scale with more diverse activities and has attracted the participation of 85 press agencies across the country.

He noted that the three-day event is also expected to increase exchanges between journalists and the people to meet the higher demand for information of the people. This is also an opportunity to praise the contributions of organisations and individuals to the national press cause.

PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc expressed his wish that the National Press Festival would be organised on a larger scale and with more diverse content, contributing to enhancing the quality of the Vietnamese press.

He also hoped that the press circle would continue to promote the fine tradition of the Vietnamese revolutionary press and renew their operation in order to contribute to national construction and defence.
