NDO - Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh has recently asked all ministries, ministry-level agencies, Government bodies and provincial People’s Committees to exert greater efforts to combat smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods for the Lunar New Year (Tet) festival, which will occur next month.

Accordingly, five inspection teams from the National Steering Committee for the Prevention and Control of Smuggling, Trade Fraud and Fake Commodities (Committee 389) will be set up to deploy the plan no later than December 30, 2016.

The inspection teams will be responsible for assessing the situation and the results of the fight on smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods in 2016 throughout a number of units and localities.

In addition, more efforts should be focused on inspections in a bid to bring into light those facilitating these bad deeds or not fulfilling their assigned tasks.

Attention should also be paid to raise public awareness of the harmful effects caused by smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods, while the committee should play a more active role in learning about serious cases of public concern and closely coordinate with the press, socio-political organisations and associations in this regard.
