Tinh, 28, was caught early this morning while driving a motorbike through Mai Chau district in the northern mountainous province of Hoa Binh.

Tinh had been given the death penalty on charges of being involved in the trafficking of 490 packs of drugs.

Earlier in the afternoon of September 16, Tinh’s accomplice, Le Van Tho, 37, was caught while holing up in Nam Sach district in the northern province of Hai Duong.

The two had been kept in the same cell and still seen on a CCTV camera until 9pm on September 10, but disappeared just one hour later.

The police determined that the two inmates bore a hole through the wall to get out of their place of confinement, then climbed up a watch tower and used a rope to escape from the detention centre.
