Hearing of Doan Thi Huong resumes

NDO - Malaysia’s Shah Alam High Court resumed the trial of Vietnamese citizen Doan Thi Huong on January 22-30, 2018, who is suspected of murdering the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) citizen Kim Chol in February 2017, announced the Vietnamese Embassy in Malaysia.

The court interrogated 34 witnesses and specialists at the hearing.

Representatives from the Vietnamese Embassy in Malaysia and Malaysian defence lawyers attended the hearing to protect the legislative rights and interests of Vietnamese citizen Doan Thi Huong.

On the side lines of the hearing, on January 29-30, representatives from the Vietnamese Embassy in Malaysia met Huong, stating that she was in stable health and asked for news of her family in Vietnam.

Since the incident on February 13, 2017, the Malaysian prosecution service has conducted five court hearings on 33 separate days.

The Vietnamese Embassy in Malaysia will continue to work closely with the defence lawyers and related agencies to protect the legitimate rights and interests of citizens Doan Thi Huong.
