NDO – Vietnamese archers gave an impressive performance to win two gold medals at the 2018 Asia Cup – Stage 1, held in Bangkok, Thailand, from March 2-9.

Nguyen Tien Cuong and Chau Kieu Oanh brought home the first gold medal in the compound mixed doubles category (three-stringed bow). Earlier at the Asian Championships 2017, these two athletes finished in fourth place in the same discipline

Chau Kieu Oanh, Le Phuong Thao, and Nguyen Thi Nhat Le grabbed the second title for Vietnam after brilliantly overcoming their Kazakh opponents 29-27 in the women’s team compound final match.

The two gold medals helped the Vietnamese delegation to a third place overall finish

The week-long tournament saw the participation of 240 archers from 26 countries and territories, competing in 10 categories. It was a warm-up for the Vietnamese athletes as they prepare for the upcoming Asian Games in Indonesia.

To prepare for this event, the Vietnamese archery team will also take part in the World Archery Cup in Shanghai, China, in April and then practise in the Republic of Korea.
