NDO – Cueists from Ho Chi Minh City claimed the top three positions at the 2017 International 3-Cushion Billiards Tournament, which wrapped up in the southern province of Binh Duong on July 16 after three days of competition.

The final clash on Sunday was a crunch encounter between 2017 national champion Ma Minh Cam and HCM City teammate Ngo Dinh Nai, with both providing the spectators in attendance with an exciting score-chasing match.

After 25 cue turns, Cam finished off his opponent with a score of 40-37, becoming the new champion of the tournament and earning a cash prize of VND60 million (US$2.640).

Alongside VND30 million (US$1,320) for the runner-up, Nai was also named the top scorer within one cue turn, with 11 points, receiving an additional VND10 million (US$440).

In the third-place match, another HCM City cueist, Duong Anh Vu, beat Da Nang’s Nguyen Duy Trung 40-34, after 24 cue turns, to claim VND20 million (US$880) in prize money.

The annual tournament took place from July 14-16 with the participation of 60 Vietnamese players and four invitees from Japan and the Republic of Korea, two countries with a strong billiards movement.

Despite winning high appreciation, the four foreigners performed below form failing to make the tournament’s top four.

The organising committee presents souvenirs to the four international invitees.
