Hanoi dominate wrestling freestyle at National Games 2018

NDO – The Hanoi sports delegation proved absolute dominance in the wrestling freestyle event at the ongoing National Games 2018, bagging all four gold medals on December 6.

The medals belong to wrestlers Nguyen Huu Dinh in men’s 61 kg, Nguyen Xuan Dinh in men's 65kg, Nguyen Dinh Long in men’s 70 kg and veteran Can Tat Du in men’s 74 kg class.

In weightlifting, Hanoi’s female weightlifter Nguyen Thi Tuyet Mai brought home a gold in women's snatch 63 kg class, with a result of 94 kg.

In the women's 58 kg class, Dinh Thi Thu Uyen (the Police delegation) broke the Games record in snatch with a new record of 97 kg. Hoang Thi Duyen (Lao Cai) won the gold medal in clean & jerk of the women's 58 kg class (115 kg), while also setting new Games record for a total lift of 211 kg.

The final in English billiards was the internal fight between two Da Nang players, Le Viet Toan and Nguyen Thanh Binh. Toan beat his teammate to claim the gold medal.

Dong Thap team won an additional gold medal yesterday in the men's team shuttlecock kicking to take the lead in shuttlecock kicking events with three golds.

Nguyen Thi Le Kim won the first gold medal of the day in karate women's kata individual, while Hua Van Huy (An Giang) won gold in men’s kata individual.

Vovinam events wrapped up competition yesterday with Ho Chi Minh City team winning the overall rankings in the sport, thanks to their seven gold medals, followed by Hanoi (three golds, four silvers) and Thanh Hoa (three golds, one silver).

At the end of the day, Hanoi continued to lead the Games overall medal tally with 137 gold medals, followed by Ho Chi Minh City with 101 golds and the Army delegation with 49 gold medals.
